Hampshire based artist, Karen is passionate about wildlife and nature “Art is a very individual and emotional journey, it remains my biggest love in life”
‘Creating art is a very individual and emotional journey and has remained my biggest passion, a place to lose myself and be myself completely’
Karen has a huge connection to animals and nature, in particular wildlife and the personality of family pets. Having been lucky to have worked for a number of years with British wildlife in rehabilitation. Albeit in difficult situations, been close to and able to and understand the characteristics and challenges our wildlife face. Karen has also been lucky to photograph wild animals of Africa in their natural environment and supports charities in conservation and the protection of our wildlife and their environments.
Loving the energy of the great outdoors, Karen will often capture subjects on camera, later creating her interpretation and imagination, in the medium of pastel and acrylics, loving the use of vibrant colours to bring life, energy and excitement to a painting, in turn bringing a room to life!
Karen is a member of the Fleet and Farnham Art Societies, exhibiting work through local galleries and exhibitions including Fleet, Farnham, AppArt, the Cross Barn in Odiham, Southern Nature Art, and recently exhibited at the Leatherhead Theatre Gallery and looking forward to exhibiting at the Esher Contemporary Art Fair in March 2019.
Karen has enjoyed working in collaboration with the talented wildlife artist Sally Goodden, to create colourful and engaging themed walls of art at the children’s Minor Injury Units in Southampton and Portsmouth.
Karen is also delighted to be one of the 4 members of the ‘WILD’ collaboration working with Fiona Pearce, Lisa Bartlett and Penny Fleet, all exhibited for the first time together at Treloar College in Alton in November 2017, supporting their incredible charity, and helping to bring to life the students design for the Jane Austen bench project ‘sitting with Jane’. Wild’ are excited to be exhibiting at Gilbert White’s House from 8th September to 30th November. Wild will be holding workshops in the run up to the exhibition.
